Orleans Parish Communication District Announces
Launch of New User-Friendly Website
NEW ORLEANS, LA (January 9, 2020) – Orleans Parish Communication District (OPCD) announces the launch of a new, more user-friendly website, which can be viewed here.
The updated website is designed to provide citizens, visitors and media with easily accessible information about OPCD, emergency and non-emergency services within Orleans Parish, and the 9-1-1 industry, as a whole. The website will also provide increased efficiency for mobile devices.
New features for the website include a convenient services page, calendar of events, image and video galleries, an articles section, and a media kit for local and national news organizations.
“This updated website is something we have been planning for a while,” stated OPCD Executive Director, Tyrell Morris. “The old site has been overdue for an upgrade, and not just regarding the look and feel. We are upgrading our approach to delivering information to the public, also. Users will have easier access to information about services OPCD provides, our upcoming events and training opportunities.”
“We will also be providing more information about who we are, what we do and where we stand on industry issues,” continued Morris. “One of my favorite new elements is the ‘#SHOWUP Spotlight,’ where one of our employees is regularly featured in an article showcasing not only the work they do, but gives a small glimpse into their personal lives and place within our community. I think the more that people know about OPCD and our Heroes Under the Headset, the more they will understand the work we do and how we continuously push to make our city a better, safer place to live.”
While the web address for the OPCD website has been changed to www.OPCDLA.gov, the website can still be reached by the previous web address, www.911nola.org.

Formed in 1982, the Orleans Parish Communication District is the PSAP for all emergency communications via 9-1-1, and non-emergency communications via 3-1-1, within Orleans Parish. The agency employs over 150 individuals and provides emergency medical dispatch, emergency fire dispatch, and emergency police dispatch for the millions of annual visitors and residents of the City of New Orleans. OPCD is a member of the Association of Public Safety Communication Officials (APCO) and the National Emergency Number Association (NENA).
