OPCD Public Engagement Specialist, Chelsea Porché,
Appointed to Public Engagement Manager Position
It is with great pride that Orleans Parish Communication District announces the
appointment of Chelsea Porché to Public Engagement Manager
Chelsea is an accomplished public relations professional with more than 7 years of experience in communications, including the previous two years as Public Engagement Specialist for OPCD.
During her time with OPCD public engagement team, Chelsea has been an integral part of the department’s success in providing vital information to New Orleans residents and visitors, including the development of social media strategy, videography, photography and graphic design elements for both New Orleans 9-1-1 and NOLA-311. Her contributions to communications strategy throughout 2020 helped ensure residents of New Orleans received the information and resources they needed during the height of the pandemic, and ultimately led to the public engagement team being awarded 10 Public Relations Society (PRSA) New Orleans 2020 Fluerish Awards.
Prior to joining the OPCD public engagement team, Chelsea devoted herself to communications through a variety of functions, including serving as an OPCD dispatcher – where she was awarded the Call Taker of the Year Award – and working as news anchor, reporter and content manager for various television news stations in New Orleans and Monroe, LA.
Chelsea holds a Bachelor of Social Science in Communications from Loyola University New Orleans. She spends her free time taking photography and video of the unique people and places in south Louisiana and volunteering her photography services to High Voltage Youth Camp.
In her new role as Public Engagement Manager, Chelsea will share Public Information Officer (PIO) responsibilities, while also managing efforts in the OPCD Public Records Office, along with a variety of communications initiatives, including branding, social media strategy and media relations.
Congratulations, Chelsea! We are proud of you and can’t wait to see you succeed in this next step of your professional journey.
