Appointed to Director of Communications & Government Affairs Position
It is with great pride that Orleans Parish Communication District announces the appointment of
Marcus Creel, MS, to Director of Communications & Government Affairs
Marcus is a seasoned communications professional with more than 15 years of experience in public relations, including the previous two years as Public Engagement Manager for OPCD. Prior to joining the OPCD team, Marcus drove communications strategies in multiple industries, including healthcare and tourism and a wide array of local, state and federal government related industries within an agency environment. Marcus holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature & Language and a Master of Science in Public Relations from The University of Southern Mississippi. Marcus spends time volunteering his communication services to the High Voltage Youth Camp and is currently the Vice President of the Southern Louisiana (SELA) Chapter of the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP).
In his new role as Director of Communications & Government Affairs, Marcus will fullfull the traditional Public Information Officer (PIO) responsibilities, direct efforts within the OPCD Public Records Office, and lead a variety of communications initiatives, including branding and strategy, public information development and dissemination, media and government relations efforts, and advocacy generation relating to emergency communications issues, such as NG9-1-1 infrastructure development, call taker reclassification, information sharing, and more.
