Orleans Parish Communication District Announces
2019 Annual Telecommunicator Award Winners
NEW ORLEANS, LA (April 11, 2019) – The Orleans Parish Communications District is proud to announce its 24th annual OPCD Public Safety Telecommunicators Awards winners, celebrating the employees who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to serve Orleans Parish.
The awards are presented in conjunction with National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, designed to recognize the hard work and dedication public safety telecommunicators exhibit on a daily basis. For more information on this week long celebration, visit https://www.npstw.org/.

To be able to honor them and all of the public safety communicators who continuously work tirelessly at our facility is one of my greatest pleasures as Executive Director.”

Formed in 1982, the Orleans Parish Communication District is the public safety answering point (PSAP) for all emergency communications via 9-1-1 within Orleans Parish. The agency employs over 140 individuals and provides emergency medical dispatch, emergency fire dispatch, and emergency police dispatch for the millions of annual visitors and residents of the City of New Orleans. OPCD is a member of the Association of Public Safety Communication Officials (APCO) and the National Emergency Number Association (NENA).
