OPCD #SHOWUP Spotlight
Giana Leach
OPCD is so proud and appreciative of our staff members who go above and beyond to serve New Orleans that we want to share their stories. To kick off this series, meet Giana Leach.
Giana is currently a dispatcher for Orleans Parish Communication District and has worked for the agency for more than 10 years.
Giana knew she wanted to serve the city of New Orleans, and originally thought it would be as a member of the New Orleans Police Department. Life, as it often does, steered her in an exciting, new direction, though.
“I wanted to protect and serve my community and now I have the opportunity to do that behind the desk instead of on the street,” said Giana.
She is grateful she can continue to fulfill her desire to help others through her work at OPCD, especially for a city she adores like no other.
“I love New Orleans. The history, the culture, second lines, parades, the amazing food and the people, there really is no other place like it,” she said.
Giana’s love for culture and beautiful scenery extends even beyond the oak-lined streets of New Orleans. Her dream vacation is a trip to Bora Bora with her family.
“Bora Bora is my dream vacation because it’s just beautiful. I fell in love with the hut style houses that sit out overlooking the beautiful clear blue water,” Giana stated.
For the holidays, Giana’s focus is bringing joy and cheer to her family, which is a task that she keeps close to her heart.
“Christmas is my favorite holiday because nothing is more enjoying and rewarding than waking my kids up and seeing the smiles on their faces when they walk in the living room to all the gifts that I was blessed to get them,” said Giana.
Giana believes caring for others is what she is meant to do, and by working as a dispatcher at OPCD, she gets to live that dream every day.
